What are my options?
Individual cremation is more expensive, but an option people choose when they specifically wish to have their own pet’s ashes returned, either to keep (each company has a selection of tasteful options for this) or to scatter along a favourite local walk, seaside holiday spot or woodland run.
Communal cremation is more affordable, and an option where owners have said their goodbyes and do not wish to have ashes returned. Some cremation services memorialise the ashes of all pets cremated communally that week in parkland. Regardless of cremation company, these ashes are treated with respect.
Home burial is an option for some, though it is advised to check with your local council. The various drugs we use make home burial a risk for water contamination where the water table is high, and if not buried deeply enough, a big risk to scavenging animals and birds. Please be sure to research this carefully in order to bury responsibly if this is your choice.

Your Local Vet
Your vet may be the most affordable choice, depending on their opening hours. I can help you by transporting your pet to them, though this will give you limited time to say a private goodbye. You can arrange to take your pet yourself too, at a time that suits you. Please arrange this directly with your vet, there is paperwork to complete and they may be able to advise a quieter time to visit. It is easier if they are expecting you. You will need to collect your pet’s ashes from them, usually 10-14d later.
